Salesforce for telecom and technology firms: partners, renewals and SLAs

Much of the revenue in the Gulf’s telecom and technology sector arrives through partners or comes back as renewals. Operators sell connectivity, cloud and security to companies with many sites. A value-added distributor sells vendors’ products through resellers across the Middle East and Africa. Cloud and cybersecurity firms sell subscriptions and managed services with renewal dates and response times written into the contract.

The work behind that revenue is usually scattered: deals registered by email, quotes in spreadsheets, renewal dates in the ERP, service level agreement (SLA) clocks in a ticketing tool and account plans in slides. Salesforce covers this work with standard products, and operators can add Communications Cloud. This guide maps each product to the work and sets out what to design around.

Partner and reseller channels on Experience Cloud

Salesforce sells partner relationship management (PRM) on Experience Cloud. Its partner management page lists deal registration and lead routing, approval of market development fund (MDF) requests and campaigns, account plans shared inside the partner portal, and incentive compensation for partners, including commissions, rebates and claim programmes. Distributors can add Channel Revenue Management, which tracks channel inventory and incentives.

Agree the channel rules before you configure:

  • Deal registration. Salesforce’s channel guidance describes it as the way to manage channel conflict: once you approve a registered deal, the partner has exclusive rights to work it for a set period. Decide who approves, how long the period runs and what happens when two resellers register the same end customer.
  • Lead distribution. Define the criteria that send a lead to a partner, such as country, tier and vendor accreditation, and automate them with assignment rules.
  • Two tiers. Resellers register deals with the distributor, which registers them again in each vendor’s portal. Keep the vendor’s registration number and any special bid price on the opportunity, so approval, price and reseller stay linked.
  • Arabic. Arabic is an end-user language in Salesforce. Its right-to-left documentation says the layout can need custom CSS in Aura sites built with Experience Builder, and standard components have limited support in LWR sites. Test an Arabic portal before you choose a template.

Quotes and renewals on Revenue Cloud

For cloud resellers, managed service providers and security firms, the renewal is the business. Revenue Cloud runs from an attribute-based product catalogue to guided quotes, contracts, orders and assets, where an asset records what each customer owns. Salesforce’s Revenue Cloud page says sellers can amend, renew or cancel customer contracts at any time, and amend live deals by changing quantities, discounts, bundles or price uplifts.

Renewals work from the asset. In Salesforce’s asset lifecycle module, renewing an asset generates a renewal quote, which becomes an order and is then activated. Automatic Renewal extends a subscription at the end of its term, and a cancellation generates a quote with a negative quantity. Three design choices follow:

  • Every subscription becomes an asset. Licences, support contracts and managed services need start and end dates on an asset when the order is activated, or renewals start from guesswork.
  • Choose what renews automatically. Small subscriptions can renew on their term. Large ones need a renewal quote, a price review and a named owner well before the end date.
  • Keep the invoice where finance wants it. If the ERP issues invoices, send orders to it and bring payment status back through an integration layer such as MuleSoft. Vendor price lists change during a term, so agree which price a renewal uses.

One Arabic caution: the same documentation lists PDF generation among features without right-to-left support, so test Arabic quote documents early.

Enterprise accounts: SLA cases and account plans

An enterprise customer of an operator or a managed security provider buys a promise: a response time, a resolution time, a level of uptime. In Service Cloud, the promise becomes an entitlement, and an entitlement process gives each case a timeline of milestones, such as first response and resolution, with warning actions before each one is due.

  • One process per service tier. Map each tier in your contracts to an entitlement process, so a contract change moves the account to the right clock.
  • Business hours by country. Milestones are calculated in business hours. Gulf countries do not share one weekend or one holiday calendar, so set business hours per country, with round-the-clock hours for critical incidents.
  • Rules for stopping the clock. Support staff can stop a milestone, and when it restarts inside business hours the target date moves by the paused time. Write down when that is allowed, such as while you wait for the customer, and report on it.
  • Cases raised by partners. When a reseller raises a case through the portal for an end customer, record whose SLA applies: the vendor’s, the distributor’s or the reseller’s.

Account plans sit on the same accounts. Sales Cloud account plans hold objectives backed by metrics and a SWOT analysis, and Salesforce’s PRM lets you share account plans inside the partner portal for joint selling. Build the plan from facts already in the org: assets and renewal dates from Revenue Cloud, open cases and missed milestones from Service Cloud, and the open pipeline. The plan then shows what the customer owns, what renews next and which promises slipped.

What Communications Cloud adds for operators

Communications Cloud is Salesforce’s product for communications service providers, built on the Salesforce Platform. Its product page describes a configure-price-quote (CPQ) engine that Salesforce says TM Forum has certified for SID and eTOM, enterprise sales management for multi-site deals, contract lifecycle management for renewals, and order routing that splits bundles and sends each service to network delivery. Billing and network systems can call inbound TM Forum Open APIs on Salesforce’s Connect REST endpoints without a managed API gateway in between.

In February 2026 Salesforce announced Agentforce for Communications, five prebuilt agents: quoting, site grouping for large multi-site quotes, guided selling for field technicians, billing dispute resolution, and service level objective (SLO) insights, which compares live network usage with service commitments and reports compliance to account owners.

The work With the standard clouds What Communications Cloud adds
Catalogue and quotes Revenue Cloud: attribute-based catalogue, guided quotes and bundles A communications data model and a CPQ engine certified by TM Forum for SID and eTOM
Multi-site deals Standard quoting in Revenue Cloud Batch pricing, bulk configuration and a site grouping agent
Contracts and renewals Assets, amendments and renewals in Revenue Cloud Renewal rules for price increases and hardware upgrade offers
Orders Revenue Cloud orders, passed to the ERP or billing system Bundles split by service and routed to network delivery
Billing and network systems Integration through MuleSoft or custom APIs Inbound TM Forum Open APIs on Connect REST endpoints
Service Service Cloud cases with entitlements and milestones Agentforce for Communications agents for billing disputes and SLO insights
Who it suits Distributors, cloud resellers, IT services and security firms Operators selling network services to many sites

For distributors, cloud resellers and security firms, the standard clouds usually cover the work. Communications Cloud earns its place when you sell connectivity and network services across many sites, split orders for network delivery and connect billing and OSS through TM Forum APIs. Salesforce sells it in editions: Growth includes the communications data model, prebuilt consoles and processes and the TM Forum APIs, and Advanced adds Revenue Cloud capabilities, asset-based ordering and Salesforce Contracts.

Our work with telecom and technology companies

Our technology and telecom clients include VAS Integrated Solutions, Mannai Corporation, Qatar Computer Services, Mindware and CNTXT. At LEAP 2026 in Riyadh, we signed a partnership agreement with Mannai Information Technology Saudi Arabia. Brother’s UAE distributor channel runs self-service on a partner portal, with omni-channel customer service on one desk.

Where to start

  1. Map every route to revenue: direct, reseller, distributor and marketplace, and what each partner may see.
  2. Write the channel rules for registration, conflict, exclusivity and lead assignment, and have sales and the channel team sign them.
  3. Load what customers own as assets with term dates, starting with the contracts that renew soonest.
  4. Turn each SLA tier into an entitlement process, with business hours per country and written rules for stopping the clock.
  5. Test the case for Communications Cloud against your multi-site deals and your billing and OSS integration.

Frequently asked questions

Does Salesforce have a telecom cloud?

Yes. Communications Cloud, for communications service providers, adds TM Forum-certified quoting, enterprise sales management for multi-site deals, contract lifecycle management, order routing to network delivery and inbound TM Forum Open APIs.

Do IT distributors and cloud resellers need Communications Cloud?

Usually not. Experience Cloud for partners, Revenue Cloud for quotes and renewals, Service Cloud for SLA cases and Sales Cloud for account plans cover their work. Communications Cloud suits operators that sell network services across many sites.

Can resellers register deals in a Salesforce partner portal?

Yes. Salesforce’s partner relationship management runs on Experience Cloud, with deal registration, lead routing, MDF requests and shared account plans. An approved registration gives the partner exclusive rights to the deal for a set period.

How does Salesforce track SLAs on cases?

With entitlements and milestones in Service Cloud. An entitlement process sets milestones such as first response and resolution, calculated in business hours, with warnings before each one is due.

Do Salesforce partner portals and quotes work in Arabic?

Arabic is an end-user language, with limits. Right-to-left layout can need custom CSS in Experience Cloud sites, and Salesforce lists PDF generation as unsupported for right-to-left languages, so test Arabic portals and quote documents early.
